HP Software Daylight Saving Time Business Availability Center

Product Notes and Requirements
Business Availability Center (BAC) Business Availability Center 6.6 supports for the Daylight Saving Time change. Business Availability Center 6.x and 5.x customers are encouraged to upgrade to 6.6.
- If an upgrade is not immediately feasible, Business Availability Center 5.x and 6.x can be patched using the Business Availability Center DST 2007 Patch.
- Business Availability Center 4.5 is at End Of Life and will not have a patch.

Mercury Application Mapping (MAM) Mercury Application Mapping 6.6 includes support for the Daylight Saving Time change. Mercury Application Mapping 6.x and 3.x customers are encouraged to upgrade to 6.6. - If an upgrade is not immediately feasible, Mercury Application Mapping 3.x and 6.x can be patched using the Business Availability Center DST 2007 Patch

Business Aavailability Center Diagnostics Reporting to Business Availability Center is not affected by the Daylight Saving Time change. Time zone conversions are performed on the client side, using the applet. Customers should upgrade their browser JRE to support the DST change. - The Diagnostics server 6.5 includes JRE1.5.0_9 and supports the DST change. - Diagnostics 4.2 has JRE 1.4.2-b28, which does not support the DST change; however, the Diagnostics server should not be directly affected by the DST change. Dashboard

Dashboard is a Java application and ships with JDK/JRE 1.4.2_08; this version of Java does not support the Daylight Saving Time change. Customers should upgrade their version of JDK/JRE to support the DST change by running the tool at: DST US.

Customers should also update their Dashboard adapters as well as other OpenView products, including Service Navigator and Operations for Windows. Service Navigator and Operations for Windows adapters use native code and are dependent on the operating system for DST support. Customers should update their Windows 2003 server (for Operations for Windows) and HP-UX (for Service Navigator) to support the DST change.

OpsView depends on the OVI component, which relies on the operating system for Daylight Saving Time support. Customers should update their operating system (Windows, HP-UX and Solaris) for OVI.

Compliance Manager Compliance Manager runs as a report pack on OpenView Performance Insight. Although Compliance Manager supports the Daylight Saving Time change, customers need to address any issues that their version of Performance Insight may have.
Internet Services (OVIS) Internet Services depends on Java and the underlying operating systems for Daylight Savings Time support. Sun updated the DST data definitions in the tzdata2005m definitions and released this change in HP Java 5.0.06 and Sun Java 1.4.2_11.Patch IS_00008 and hotfix A.06.10.135 are available fo rthe server and patch ISRW_00002 is available for the remote probe. Transaction Analyzer (OVTA) Transaction Analyzer depends on Java and the underlying operating systems for Daylight Savings Time support. Business Process Insight(OVBPI) Business Process Insight is a Java application that uses the J2SDK. Support for the Daylight Saving Time change depends upon having updated Java from Sun and porting the update to all systems on which Business Process Insight runs, including Windows for the server and HP-UX Precision Architecture for the HP Service Navigator adaptor. Sun has Java updates for all the platforms on which Business Process Insight runs:
  • For Business Process Insight 1.1 and 2.0 server (Windows platform): install J2SDK 1.4.2_11 or later
  • For Business Process Insight 2.10 server (Windows platform): install J2SDK 5.0.0.8 or later
  • For Business Process Insight 1.1 and 2.0, Service Navigator HP-UX (Precision Architecture) adaptor: install J2SDK 1.4.2_11 or later
  • For Business Process Insight 2.10, Service Navigator HP-UX (Precision Architecture) adaptor: install J2SDK 5.0.03 or later
Note that the relevent J2SDK must be installed per its documentation.
Real User Monitor Real User Monitor is not affected by the Daylight Saving Time change. It reports to Business Availability Center in UTC (Coordinated Univeral Time) and uses GMT+0 for its reports. Real User Monitor 6.5 also uses JRE1.5.0_07, which supports the DST change. Customers with older versions should upgrade to the version 6.5.
Business Process Monitor Business Process Monitor is written in C, not Java. It inherently addresses the Daylight Saving Time change through an hourly synchronization. There is a known bug that requires restarting the Business Process Monitor agent for DST support. We also recommend checking that your operating system supports the DST change as well.
