Software Support Spring announcement: new and improved Software Support June 2004
We are pleased to inform you that starting June 1, 2004, HP is further increasing the value of HP OpenView Software Support services with the addition of new web-based support capabilities.
In addition to the existing telephone assistance, software patches, updates and upgrades, HP OpenView Software Support customers are entitled to the following new web-based capabilities, developed based on valuable customer feedback:
Expanded capabilities
- 24x7 web-based intelligent response: Minutes after case logging online, customers will receive relevant response online, 24x7
- Improved self solve capabilities: User-friendly interface with flexibility on search methods and advanced search options
- Self-Healing Services: Automated fault detection and secure analysis reporting for OVO/Unix and NNM/Unix servers
- Software discovery and license history management: Enables customers to better manage their unique environment by discovering software installed and license registered
- Over 50,000 knowledge documents: Expanded and updated knowledge content so that customers can get to the right information faster
The added web capabilities to Software Support are available from HP OpenView's online support site. Software Support Online provides you with self-solve capabilities, enabling a fast and efficient way to access interactive technical support tools needed to manage your business. As a valuable support customer, you can benefit by being able to:
- Search for knowledge documents of interest
- Submit and track progress on support cases
- Manage your support contract
- Look up HP Support Contacts
- Review information about available services
- Enter discussions with other software customers
- Research and register for software training
Effective June 14, 2004, selected levels of the current HP OpenView online support site will be restricted to customers with a valid HP Software support contract or may require log-in registration.

The increased web capabilities will have no price impact for existing Software Support customers, which includes telephone support during normal business hours. While Software Support is now the standard support, Software Support 24x7 customers, or customers requiring live engineering access at all times will experience an increase in support price, from approximately 25% to 27% of License-to-use price. The price increase will take effect June 1st.
